Classic Game Room HD – DIG DUG for Atari 7800 review

Posted by who am I On December - 30 - 2008

“Just because the graphics are better doesn’t mean the game is better” What could be better than Dig Dig on the Atari 7800 ProSystem? Dig Dug doesn’t rely on fancy graphics or futuristic gameplay to be fun. It just is fun.

This awesome classic arcade smash hit from the 1980’s is retro, old school video gaming at its finest. Dig Dug digs through the earth to get points, collect vegetables (and roots I think, like carrots) and kills bad guys with a bike pump. Dig Dug is such a great game it could be remade today for the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 video game consoles. You can also pick up a Dig Dug cartridge for the Atari 2600 VCS or get it with an original arcade stand up coin-op machine.

Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD. The HD series is reviewing PS3, Genesis, NES, Atari and Xbox 360. Xbox Live Arcade XBLA. Dig Dug was published by Namco.

Classic Game Room HD – JUNGLE HUNT for Atari 2600 review

Posted by who am I On December - 30 - 2008

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of the JUNGLE HUNT for the Atari 2600 video computer system VCS. This is an arcade classic that made it on the Atari in the early 1980’s and is true old school retro gaming at its finest. You play as Dudley Dashly searching for your wife who is kidnapped by cannibals. In a similar vein to Pitfall, you swing from vine to vine and fight crocodiles and giant boulders. This is an early side scrolling action adventure game sort of like a platformer. I wonder if we’ll ever see this game on the PS3, Wii or Xbox Live Arcade? It is a lot of fun and if you like horizontal side scrollers you’ll probably enjoy Jungle Hunt!!

Classic Game Room HD – GOTTLIEB PINBALL HALL OF FAME on PS2

Posted by who am I On December - 30 - 2008

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of PINBALL HALL OF FAME: THE GOTTLIEB COLLECTION for the Playstation 2 PS2 video game console systems. This game by Crave (who recently made the Williams Pinball Hall of Fame) was released in 2004 and features a number of classic pinball machines from Gottlieb. Games included are Black Hole, Victory, Tee’d Off, Ace High and Central Park. This is a fun pinball video game and very well done with nice emulation of an actual pinball machine, without all the hassle of repair and looking for spare parts. How do you fix a vintage pinball machine? Buy this game and don’t worry about it. Released for the PS2, Xbox and Nintendo Gamecube this game harks back to the days when these massive multi-ball machines ruled the arcade. So jump into some retro old school gaming from the days of the arcades and dig Gottlieb pinball! Classic Game Room HD – PLANET PATROL for Atari 2600 review

Posted by who am I On December - 30 - 2008

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of PLANET PATROL for the Atari 2600 video game console. CGR-HD has been busy with new Playstation 3 PS3 games like GT5 Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Dark Sector and our console review of the PS3, but we haven’t forgotten where gaming came from. Especially in the awesome shoot em’ up maniac shooter SHMUP video gaming world. Planet Patrol is an awesome early horizontally scrolling space shooter for us shmups fans. Released by Spectravision in the early 1980’s this game is a lot of fun and has you patrolling a Star Trek or Star Wars type planet at day and night and fighting off waves of enemies. A must have for serious classic arcade retro old school gaming collectors.
