The OpenMRS project is a noteworthy open source community that allows developers to directly contribute towards technology that saves lives. This community began its work in 2004 in response to HIV’s devastation upon the developing world. As home to ninety-five percent of this pandemic’s disease burden, these resource-poor locations need new health care systems that efficiently manage medical information. A quick survey of the health information technology landscape in this environment yields poor organization, many inflexible ad hoc developments, and poor potential for proper scale.

We have all been to NASA’s Space Camp. Back home, we entered a rocket-building contest where the challenge was to build a rocket with devices attached that could measure or detect other planets’ environments. Our question: How can we make good sensors for our rocket?
It doesn’t matter if animals are furry or feathered, we’re wild about all of them! We went to the zoo last spring and noticed a bunch of new baby animals. We knew they wouldn’t stay little for long and wondered which animal would grow the fastest: a calf, a chick or a piglet?
We’re Milan and Harison, and we love going to the ocean. We like to learn about the animals that live off the coast of Los Angeles, and a great place to do that is the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. Our favorite exhibit there is the shark and ray pool. You can see them up close, and even touch them. We think it’s interesting to watch a ray eat, with its mouth on the underside of its body. We got to wondering: How does a fish’s mouth type affect what it eats?
We love to go vertical when we ride our skateboards. We wanted to get the greatest performance out of our boards and wondered if choosing the right wheels makes a difference. Our question: How does wheel size affect our skateboarding performance?
